Background

Grant Thornton is the UK's fifth largest accountancy firm with 38 offices nationwide. On 1st July 2007, the firm merged with RSM Robson Rhodes further strengthening its market position.

Task

  • Create a user-centric site that reflects the firm's new market facing structure
  • Address the diverse offerings and complexities of how Grant Thornton goes to market and the resultant volume of information
  • Provide a more simple, intuitive and rewarding experience for the user in terms of navigation and content

Solution

  • A site built around the new four-pronged market facing structure, which is also used as the primary navigation from the homepage
  • A shallower, narrower site structure with a more intuitive, user-friendly navigation to improve the user experience
  • A bold, clean new look and feel centred on new photography of employees

Results

  • Reduced visits of less than 10 seconds from 56% to 28% and increased amount of visitors spending more than a minute on the site from 26% to 45%
  • Average time on the site increased from under 3 minutes to over 5 minutes
  • Extremely positive feedback from internal stakeholders and employees alike
